Why Fabric Choice Matters
The textile industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions. Choosing sustainable fabrics is one of the most impactful consumer decisions.
Organic Cotton
Grown without synthetic pesticides, using 91% less water. Yields are 20-30% lower, requiring more land.
Tencel (Lyocell)
Made from eucalyptus using a closed-loop system recycling 99% of solvent. Less water than cotton, biodegradable, moisture-wicking.
Hemp
Grows quickly with minimal water, no pesticides, and improves soil quality. Barriers include legal restrictions and coarser texture in lower grades.
Recycled Polyester
From plastic bottles, 59% less energy than virgin polyester. Still sheds microplastics and is not biodegradable.
