Natural Fiber Care: Silk, Wool, Linen Guide

Natural fibers require specific care approaches that differ significantly from synthetic fabrics. Understanding the properties of silk, wool, and linen helps you maintain their beauty and extend their lifespan dramatically.

Silk Care

Hand-wash silk in cool water with a pH-neutral detergent. Never wring or twist; instead, roll in a clean towel to remove excess water. Dry flat away from direct sunlight. Iron on the lowest heat setting while slightly damp, always on the reverse side.

Wool Maintenance

Wool is naturally odor-resistant and rarely needs washing. Air garments between wears, brush with a clothes brush to remove surface dirt, and spot-clean when possible. When washing is necessary, use cool water and a wool-specific detergent. Never tumble dry.

Linen Longevity

Linen actually improves with age and washing. Machine wash on gentle with mild detergent. Linen can handle warm water but shrinks slightly on first wash. Embrace the wrinkles as they are part of linen's character. Iron while damp for the smoothest finish.
