Navajo Weaving: Spider Woman Sacred Gift
Jonas Cole·Published

Spider Woman Teaching
In Navajo cosmology, Spider Woman taught the people to weave using sky, earth, sun, and lightning as tools.
Regional Styles
- Two Grey Hills: natural wool colors, fine geometric patterns
- Ganado: deep red with black and white designs
- Teec Nos Pos: complex borders and vibrant colors
Spirit Line
Many weavers include a spirit line — a thin thread from the center to the edge — providing a path for the weaver spirit to exit the textile.
